Faith Notes
from
Rev. Bliss

To all Parents:

At the annual meeting of the conference someone observed that any church's most important program is the youth program. If we have no youth, we will probably not have any future. Wendi, Charlie, and others have put together a wonderfully challenging and nurturing Church School program for this school year. What we now need is your commitment to help get your children to church on Sundays. If you can't bring them, we can help with rides. We just need to get them here somehow. Please make a commitment to help them get to church each week.

Options for Adult Education:

Last year's 8:45 a.m. Sunday school class for adults was a good one. I will offer that class again, beginning on September 19. The class will feature "Great Events in the Bible," and will allow us to read some of our favorite stories and decide how they measure in importance to others.

A couple of people have expressed interest in bringing back the Wednesday noon Brown Bag Bible Study. If we did that, it would start at noon and last for 60 or 90 minutes. The gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) could be read and compared to each other. We would learn what stories were included in several Gospels and which were in only one. Did you know that Matthew, Mark, and Luke contain almost all the parables? John has a couple of references to them, but no true parables. If you are interested in this format (or even a different day or time) for a class, please let me know very soon.

-John
