Lenten Study

Lenten Study
Wednesdays, March 23 and April 6
Encounters with Jesus

Our Lenten Study this year will be on two Wednesday evenings, March 23 and April 6. We will gather in the Fellowship Hall for dessert at 7:00 p.m. and the learning and sharing will begin at about 7:20 or 7:30. The Study is from an Upper Room book entitled Gospeled Lives: Encounters with Jesus.

The first week we will look at how three biblical people or groups meet Jesus and have a “call” experience. You know these people, but each story has a different emphasis than you might be used to. Some reading will be necessary (the encounter stories), and will be available for several weeks before the session.

After some introductory conversation, we will break up into small groups and discuss the “call experiences” and how they might relate to: (1) the season of Lent; (2) our lives and faith; and (3) concerns and events in the congregation, the wider community, and the world. There won’t be a charge for the material.

A second session is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6. That evening the readings will about three other biblical people who have met Jesus and been either “transformed” or “empowered.” Consider joining us to learn if you have experienced a call, a transformation, or an empowerment.
