October Bread Offering: Neighbors in Need

The Neighbors in Need (NIN) is a special mission that supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States.  Two-thirds of the offering is used by the UCC’s Justice and Witness Ministries to fund a wide array of local and national justice initiatives, advocacy efforts and direct service projects.

Neighbors in Need also supports our American Indians in the UCC.  One-third of the offering goes to the UCC’s Council for American Indian Ministries (CAIM).  Today there are 20 UCC congregations on reservations and one urban multi-tribal UCC congregation in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Neighbors in Need makes a better world possible.  Many UCC congregations will receive the NIN offering on October 5, as part of their World Communion Sunday observance, but we will be accepting your donations all during October.

Note:  last year Neighbors In Need we gave $243.  Can we do better this year?
